Policy, Logistics, and Innovation
By advancing cutting-edge technologies, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and influencing industry policies, GTMI ensures that the U.S. manufacturing sector and supply chain remains resilient, competitive, and at the forefront of global advancements.
Enabling the Ecosystem for Future Manufacturing
Innovation thrives in a strong ecosystem. GTMI is developing the tools, policies, and infrastructure that empower manufacturers to adopt new technologies, respond to disruptions, and lead in a global marketplace shaped by digital transformation and supply chain complexity.

Cybersecure Manufacturing
GTMI is at the forefront of cybersecure manufacturing, ensuring that advanced manufacturing systems are protected against cyber threats. Through collaborations with industry leaders and government agencies, GTMI develops robust cybersecurity measures tailored for manufacturing environments. Our work includes creating secure communication protocols, implementing real-time monitoring systems, and developing strategies to safeguard intellectual property and sensitive data. By integrating these cybersecurity practices, GTMI enhances the resilience and reliability of manufacturing processes, contributing to the overall security and competitiveness of the U.S. manufacturing sector.
Supply Chain and Logistics
Supply chain and logistics are crucial for modern businesses, ensuring efficient, cost-effective product delivery while balancing cost reduction and risk mitigation to enhance competitiveness and resilience against disruptions. In partnership with the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute, GTMI works to develop digital models for centralized and distributed networks, supporting production and distribution in key industries like medicine, automotive, and agriculture. By creating capacity planning tools to optimize manufacturing locations and capacities, these innovations aim to improve efficiency, support economic growth, create jobs, and promote sustainability.

Manufacturing Enterprise Innovation
GTMI leads global manufacturing innovation by advancing technology, manufacturing, business, and ecosystem readiness levels (TRL, MRL, BcRL, EcRL). In collaboration with our partners — Manufacturing USA Institutes, Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership, Georgia Manufacturing Survey, and more — GTMI helps companies adopt advanced technologies to enhance competitiveness. Our xRL strategy accelerates technology commercialization and supports local production, boosting economic and national security. GTMI also addresses supply chain vulnerabilities, aiming to strengthen the U.S. industrial base for critical industries.

Public Policy: Manufacturing Innovation
Through collaborations with Manufacturing USA, the NIST Office for Advanced Manufacturing (OAM), the National Materials and Manufacturing Board (NMMB), and the Georgia Tech-led National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Cell Manufacturing Technologies (CMaT), Georgia Tech and GTMI are advancing new manufacturing technologies, education, and workforce development. Additionally, we are working with government and industry leaders to develop policy that strengthens national security and enhances the U.S. manufacturing industry’s competitiveness on the global stage.
