Gary Martin joined Delta Air Lines as the Managing Director of Engineering in July 2017. In this role, Gary is responsible for the airline’s Engineering, Quality Assurance, Reliability, and Maintenance Program activity. Prior to Delta, Gary was with Rapiscan Systems as the Vice President of Operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa, where he was responsible for $200M in aviation security products that included sales, manufacturing, engineering and quality.
With over 30 years of commercial aviation experience, Gary started his career at Eastern Airlines as a Structures Engineer and then transitioned to American Airlines as a Lead Systems Engineer. After his time at American, Gary moved to America West where he had responsibility for Aircraft and Powerplant Engineering followed by Base Maintenance. In addition to broad airline experience, Gary brings 12 years of OEM experience at both Honeywell Aerospace and Bombardier Aerospace. During his time at both, he worked in operations, product support, sales and marketing, and program management.
Gary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Arizona State University. He also has an Airframe and Powerplant license, is certified in Project Management, and is a Six Sigma Green Belt.
